Review: THE SCENT OF SHADOWS

The Scent Of Shadows by Vicki Pettersson
Book 1 of the Signs of the Zodiac series

About The Scent Of Shadows:
When she was sixteen, Joanna Archer was brutally assaulted and left to die in the Nevada desert.

By rights, she should be dead.

Now a photographer by day, she prowls a different Las Vegas after sunset — a grim, secret Sin City where Light battles Shadow — seeking answers to whom or what she really is . . . and revenge for the horrors she was forced to endure.

But the nightmare is just beginning — for the demons are hunting Joanna, and the powerful shadows want her for their own . . .

Review:
You run somebody over with your car and you see the man heal his broken bones before your very eyes and all you do is call him crazy. Frankly I would be freaked out... Big time!! Then he starts telling you things that nobody else could possibly know and you call him crazy and calmly walk away. Wait a minute here! Do we see a non-authentic scene here? Suspension of disbelief? Hmm, let me see... down at the bottom of the ocean... Or maybe a"too stupid to live" (TSTL) scenario? Take your pick. Me, I stopped reading at page 40... Maybe this would be a good read to somebody who has a whole lot more "stupid" tolerance but this book is seriously not working for me.

b.2.) This rule is a must. I’ve been picking winners who were not followers when I check. Their entry then has to be discarded and another winner chosen. This gets very tiring! Please make sure that you are in the followers’ list, at least until after the winner is announced.
b.3.) Please provide your Google Friend Connect name/nickname/alias (whatever) that you used to follow Cherry Mischievous, so that when I check the followers’ list I would find you. Just please make sure that you provide the same Google Friend Connect name with your extra entry so that your extra entry can be married/credited to your contest entry and not mistakenly give the extra entry credits to someone else.
h.) How do I pick the winner? Usually, I do it the reliable, good, old fashioned way. I place your name in a little piece of paper and put them in a hat. (Or mixing bowl). Cover it with a plate so that the pieces of papers don’t fall out of the bowl. Give it a good shake to mix them all up. Close my eyes and pick one paper. And viola! We have a winner! And drives my boyfriend up the wall… So gotta do it when he’s in work :) ...However, if I am in a hurry and boyfriend is in the house, I just pick a name randomly from the list of valid entries :D
h.1.) If you have gained extra entry credits, this means that: the number of extra credits you have is the number of pieces of paper with your name in it is placed in the bowl. The more papers there are with your name in it in the bowl, the more chances of your name getting picked as the winner.
i.) This Disclaimer forms part of the Contest Rules.

FANTASY LOVER

Fantasy Lover
Book 1 of the Dark Hunter series

DH read #1

by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Julian of Macedon and Grace Alexander's story

Cherry's Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Genre: Urban fantasy romance

This particular book did not rate very high for me. But don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading this book. It's not bad at all. Slow start, lovely ending. However what made this book really worth reading is that it is the start of a remarkable series dubbed, Dark-Hunter by our marvellous tale-spinner Sherrilyn Kenyon. The whole series is a masterpiece. The series would garner a score of 5 cherries. Got me hooked... hook, line and sinker! So be warned, this is addictive. Marvellous read. For reading order, go to: http://www.dailyinquisitor.com/hunter/readingorder.htm .

Caption at the back reads:
It might sound like a man's favorite fantasy - to live forever, destined to be the lover of thousands of women. But for Julian of Macedon, it's a nightmare. Once he was a proud Spartan general, now he's a love-slave, his essence magically held captive in a book, cursed to spend all eternity pleasing women. Then, one day, Grace Alexander summons Julian to fulfill her passionate dreams - and sees beyond the fantasy to the man himself.

Long years as a sex therapist, listening to other people's bedroom problems, has taken a lot of the fun out of the physical side of love for Grace. She's remarkably understanding about Julian's situation - and that's disconcerting for all concerned. With or without sex, the rules of the enchantment cannot be changed. Julian is hers for the next month. And, as their time together slips by, Julian and Grace find more to share than sympathy and conversation - and they begin to wonder if love might be within their grasp. That leaves only one question. Is love enough to break a 2,000-year-old curse?

DARK PROTECTOR

DARK PROTECTOR by Alexis Morgan

My Review:
This is an emerging new author with a promising new series.

I think an avid reader of fantasy romance like me would enjoy this book as much as I did. Looking forward and waiting for the next book to arrive in the mail. I know that the market now is inundated with fantasy romances and the like, but I say the more the better, it just means that then I don't have to run out of books to read (yet). So, A. Morgan, please write on..

Rating: 5 out of 5 cherries

MOON CALLED

Review on MOONCALLED (Book1 of the Mercy Thompson series):
Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1)Moon Called by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Masterpiece story telling quality which makes this book stand out in a congested genre! Character development is superb, giving us not just characters but friends to sympathize and empathize with. World building is believable. Seemlessly blending paranormal with modern society. Love Patricia Briggs!
