About Night Broken:
An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.Source: Info in the About Night Broken was taken from GoodReads at https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17562900-night-broken on 10/04/2014.
Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.
Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.
My Thoughts:
I am already an old Patricia Briggs fan. And this book only reconfirmed to me why I liked this author so much! It was kinda slow start though. Not very slow, but slower than I expected a Patricia Briggs book would be. However it picked up after a few chapters in, and it just kept getting better! When I first started reading this book, I kinda groaned and thought that I was gonna be reading another volcano god retelling. I've just re-watched the Angel TV series' version of it after I've seen the Grimm TV series' version of it too. The theme has been around the block a few times already. So I thought I knew what was going to happen already. Chemically freeze-dry the volcano being, right? I was glad to find out in the end that I was way off mark. This book is not about volcano beings like the Angel and Grimm TV shows, this is about relationships and bonds. Way off mark. I've never been so happy to be wrong!... Then there was a lot of descriptive narration about how the enemy looked. As if the author could not impress it enough to the readers that one of the bad guys' forms is supposed to be an evil version of a Tibecena dog breed. So I googled it to facilitate the image in my head and viola! But, this image of a Tibecena looks like a big softie. I prefer this to the evil one... And before I knew it I was at the end and couldn't wait to read the next book! Which of course will come out next year! And that is the only downside of this book.
