My Thoughts:
Catalina's story was started with Diamond Fire, so everything I have to say about Sapphire Flames was already said then. In this book we explore more into her character and the romance between her and Alessandro Sagredo. And of course, it has to be complicated... Catalina takes three books before Arabella's series starts. I don't mind because Ilona Andrews usually makes it worth it. I also liked the fact that I get to read about Zeus again! Darn! That cat has a way of wriggling his way into your heart!

Empirical Evaluation:
Story telling quality = 5
Character development = 5
Story itself = 4.5
Writing Style = 5
Ending = 4.5
World building = 5
Cover art = 4.5
Pace = (12 hrs and 32 mins)

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 cherries

Diamond Fire by Ilona Andrews
Book 3.5 of the Hidden Legacy series
Read by Renee Raudman and Emily Rankin
Genre: urban fantasy

About Diamond Fire:
Nevada Frida Baylor and Connor Ander Rogan cordially invite you to join their wedding celebration. Summoning, weather manipulation, and other magical activities strictly forbidden.

To make this wedding happen, Catalina will have to do the thing she fears most: use her magic. But she’s a Baylor and there’s nothing she wouldn't do for her sister's happiness. Nevada will have her fairy tale wedding, even if Catalina has to tear the mansion apart brick by brick to get it done

My Thoughts:
Catalina has always been the quite one and it seems like we don't really see much of her. So it was interesting to read the story from her perspective... I wanted the story to be still about Nevada and Rogan, but I understand that, that story arc is now done. But, maybe this tangent story arc wouldn't be so bad... As usual, the story telling quality is compelling. The world building has been established a long time ago with book 1, and the wonderfulness of it is carried through in this book too. This book being a novella, is too short a read. So the pace is quite quick. The plot is thicker than I expected of an urban fantasy book, and a novella at that. Not much room to get twisty. Yet the author accomplished a thicker plot, which is a great bunos!

I've never listened to Emily Rankin before and I like the way she reads Catalina. Her young voice fits Catalina too. Her and Renee Raudman's performance is awesome!! Looking forward to listening to the next book in this series.

My Thoughts:
I was dreading going into this book, knowing that this is the last book in the series. I thought that beloved characters would die! Well, there was death... but the ending, though finished the story arc in the series, still left room for more stories to come and I am hopeful! Because this is really a beloved series! I want to read more of it. I am also hoping to read more of Conlan in future books in off-shoot serieses. Who doesn't want a cuddly little kitten version of Curran!! There is also an element of predictability in the story. Normally this is a downer for me. But in this book, I can totally ignore it for the wonderful reading time I get out of it!

As usual, Ilona Andrews did not disappoint! There are advantages and disadvantages to that. The advantage is, that we get a wonderful reading time! The disadvantage is that, now the post-wonderful-read depression sets in

Meet The Author

About Ilona Andrews:
Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Oregon with their two children, three dogs and a cat. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.
