BULLY 4 LOVE: A Rather Odd Love Story

BULLY 4 LOVE: A Rather Odd Love Story by Steven Paul Leiva
Genre: love story

About BULLY 4 LOVE: A Rather Odd Love Story:
"She walked into my classroom ten minutes early on the first day of the Fall 1990 semester at South Pasadena Adult Education. I sat at my desk with my head down, going over notes and a sheet of mandatory announcements.

It was not hard to hear the entrance, which came with a slight swish to it. I raised my head to greet my first adult education student.

She stood just in from the door: a person — a woman — a person, unlike any person I had ever seen or, indeed, have ever seen since, for she was radiant. Radiant — a not unusual adjective and often a metaphor — but at that moment, as she stood there, and as I possibly held my breath, the word was an utterly accurate adjective that was just barely a metaphor."

Thus begins a very odd love story.

Adolphus. Lavinia. Eugene. Peggy. Who loves who?

Love rejected. Love ignored. Love found. And pizza.

"Steven Leiva not only promises he delivers. Bravo!" -- Ray Bradbury, Author of "The Laurel & Hardy Love Affair." Off-beat

About Steven Paul Leiva:
A refugee from the silly fields of Hollywood where he cavorted with such luminaries as Bugs Bunny and Betty Boop (although the latter was but a brief affair), Steven Paul Leiva has authored nine novels and one novella since 2003. His work has been praised by literary great Ray Bradbury, Oscar-winning film producer Richard Zanuck, NY Times bestselling author and Pulitzer Prize finalist Diane Ackerman, and Star Trek actor John Billingsley, the greatest bookworm in Hollywood. He has received the Scribe Award from the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers. A traveler among several genres, his books include his witty Hollywood thrillers, BLOOD IS PRETTY and HOLLYWOOD IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER ARMY, his novelization of the indie family film; the Scribe Award-winning 12 DOGS OF CHRISTMAS; his Sci-Fi satire of first-contact told from the point-of-view of the aliens, TRAVELING IN SPACE; his comic look at happy-ever-afters, BY THE SEA; his surreal political fantasia, IMP; his bizarre, possibly audacious, somewhat Sci-Fi novella, MADE ON THE MOON; JOURNEY TO WHERE, a contemporary "scientific romance" written in the tradition of H.G. Wells and Jules Vern; CREATURE FEATURE: A HORRID COMEDY; and his latest, BULLY 4 LOVE, a rather odd love story

Blog Tour: INSIDE PHOENIX

What is great about this book?
HA! A tough question to ask any author about her book baby.

I read all kinds of books, and there are many shifter books out there, werewolves, lions, and bears; we’ve all seen them. Shifter books can be a fun read, and I thought I could write a superior one. Now there is nothing wrong with steamy romance, but I always want an exciting plot to accompany it. So, I wrote a book that is more than boy meets girl equals instant lust. There is plenty of lust, but there is also conflict and a mystery. The characters are well developed and they aren’t perfect. They are likeable but flawed and damaged as are all real people. The reader discovers their failings, their strengths, and their motivations. The heated attraction builds as a trusting relationship develops. Meanwhile, the mystery and threat grow as well.

Shifter mythology has been around forever. From Native American shapeshifters to ancient Greek mythology, people have found the concept of changing physical forms fascinating. The concept of changing into an animal tugs at our imagination and pushes our boundaries in ways we would like to accept. This book explains where shape shifters originated and how their powers came to be.

Additionally, these memorable characters come from fantastically affluent backgrounds that most of us enjoy reading about but don’t experience. High fashion models and NFL stars aren’t our usual neighbors, but they make for a diverting read. Phoenix is fluent in smartassery and unimpressed by this football player who wants her. Ian has never met a woman who wasn’t interested in his fame and body, but in Phoenix he has met his counterpart. The problem is, he has to keep her alive long enough to make her his.

Romance, mystery, and a killer on the loose make this a great book you will want to read.

Roni O’Connell is the author of Inside Phoenix, a sexy shifter romance/thriller for adults, Chameleon’s Spell, a dystopian paranormal romance/thriller, Float, the first paranormal thriller in the YA series Chronicles of D.E.A.D High, and 3rd Degree Secrets, the second paranormal thriller in the series.

Addicted to books from infancy, Roni says, “I love books that explore fantasy worlds and the paranormal—books that push the edges of my imagination. As a child, I spent many of my best hours immersed in books and that passion morphed into writing them. I taught English literature for many years and found some of my students felt underrepresented in the books they read. That is why Float has a Hispanic heroine.

“I live with my husband and three dogs high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. A California native, I find inspiration in the forest, wildlife, and lakes around my home. THE BRIDESMAID AND THE HURRICANE Blog Tour

The Bridesmaid And The Hurricane by Kelly Maher
Genre: modern romance

About The Bridesmaid And The Hurricane:
A one-weekend stand over a year ago, and now they're coworkers...

Being a woman in TV is hard enough, but when the boss is trying to derail Radhika O’Leary’s career from behind the scenes, she has to make sure every aspect of her work—and her life—stands up to scrutiny.

Of course, the double standard is alive and well and Malcolm Jones, the broadcast meteorologist known as “Colm” to his friends and “The Hurricane Hottie” to his fangirls, knows that fame can hurt just as much as it helps. When Colm moves to DC, he’s excited to work with Radhika—her professional reputation is sparkling, and so are the kisses they shared that one weekend over a year ago when he was in town covering a blizzard.

But when Radhika is paired up with Colm for a project, all she sees is a looming storm over her carefully constructed career. Sparks still fly between the two journalists, and if they’re not careful, lightning might strike and alter the course of their lives forever.

Excerpt:
Once they got inside the cafeteria, they went their separate ways to order their lunches. Stacey came back as Radhika was waiting on the veggie burger she’d ordered. “Did you get fries to go with that?”

“Yes.”

“Can you get a second order? I’ve been dying for some.”

“Sure.” She put in the request and they came up with the burger.

They went through the check out and Radhika put it all on her company account. They found an empty table over in one of the corners. Less chance of being interrupted. “How did the segment go?”

“Really good. I managed to get in all of the information I wanted to about the show and we still had a little time left over, so I talked a bit about how part of the proceeds go to help charity.”

“That’s great.”

“Yeah. Hopefully, if someone doesn’t go to the play, they’ll still consider donating.” She lifted one shoulder and dug into her bowl of chicken noodle soup.

The noise level in the cafeteria lifted like a small wave building into a bigger one. Radhika looked over and quickly found the reason. Colm. She wondered if this was his first turn in the cafeteria. Like if he knew that tour groups sometimes ended up here. Today, there was a bunch of high schoolers and some family groups. High-pitched squeals echoed every few seconds as he stopped to take pictures she was sure would be posted to the internet right after he walked away.

“Wow. Is that him?”

Radhika turned back to find Stacey staring at Colm slack jawed. “Mm-hmmm.”

Stacey leaned in. “And you hit that?” She held up her hand for a high-five.

Radhika let her hang.

“Hey, I’m trying to congratulate you.”

“You realize that’s crass.”

“So?” She pointed at her still raised hand with her other index finger. “High-five back, bitch.”

PROMISES Part 3

The Book

PROMISES Part 3 by A. E. Via
Genre: M/M Gay Contemporary

About PROMISES Part 3:
A bounty hunter’s partners to lovers’ story.
The hunt is on… and he’s the prey.

Bradford (Ford) King was sure he had the rest of his life mapped out. Though he was no longer a SEAL Lieutenant, his brother was home safe and he had a job that still allowed him to satisfy his hunger for hunting bad guys. Life was simple, no distractions or complications – at age forty-six – that’s all Ford wanted. What he didn’t want was his work partner, sniper/watchman, Dana, giving him s**t all the time.

Dana Cadby had grown up labeled a roughneck from the wrong side of the tracks. He’d fought, scrounged, and survived despite a father that constantly told him he couldn’t. Dana pulled himself up by his own boot straps and made a name for himself in the marksman community. He’d been Duke’s bounty watchman for five years. It was his job to ensure their safety, watch their backs. At thirty-three, he was trusted, well respected by his peers, his bosses, his friends… so why couldn’t he earn the same respect from his partner?

Dana knew he was bisexual before he graduated high school. He also knew he was attracted to the huge, 6’3”, SEAL from the moment he and his brother came to join their team. It wasn’t easy for him to tamp down his immediate reaction to Ford’s thick muscles, full beard, and dark eyes. Still, Dana exhibited nothing but professionalism towards him, not wanting to make his ‘straight’ partner uncomfortable.

After Dana took back his ex-girlfriend, he’d noticed an intensification in Ford’s bad attitude. One that turned aggressive and downright antagonistic, and Dana was damned if he’d just lay down and take it. He was gonna make that man respect him if it was the last thing he did.

When Duke sends Dana and Ford out to track down their most dangerous bounty yet, they both embrace the fact that they make one hell of a team… but they fight tooth and nail against the powerful intimacy brewing between them.

Beware: When Ford and Dana connect, no fugitive can hide from the hunter and his watchman.

This story is a part of a series but can stand alone. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has a HEA.
Disclaimer: This book is about MM romance, albeit there is a very brief MF scene.

Excerpt:
Dana

“God, brat,” Ford retorted.

Dana’s laughter dwindled when he noticed the rich look of lust on Ford’s face. He’d never ever seen that look on him. He kept his eyes on Ford’s, wanting that look all to himself. Craving that look. He released the air he’d been holding and sucked in a much-needed breath. The temperature in the room spiked thirty degrees as they stared unashamedly at each other. If he weren’t such a gentleman he’d be up off that small loveseat and straddling Ford’s lap before he could erase that look from his face. But first, he had a girlfriend to break up with. Dana was not a cheater. And second, this was all new territory for Ford and he wouldn’t be a jerk and push him into something he wasn’t ready for.

“I better go. It’s late,” Dana said, breaking the tension. As soon as he stood up, he pulled at the hem of his shirt to try to cover his half-hard erection. “I had a good time, Ford.” Dana turned around and groaned under his breath. Why’d I say that? He’d just made it sound like he’d been on a date.

“Me too,” Ford said from close behind him. Dana was relieved Ford didn’t read too much into his choice of words.

Dana put on his coat and slowly made his way to the door, hesitant to leave Ford’s company after only a measly four hours. He could enjoy being around him – especially when he wasn’t so uptight – for much longer. Before he opened the door, Dana turned, desperate for even a few more seconds. “Have a good night.”

Ford looked so serious again, like he was debating with himself. The bad guy on his shoulder winning over the good guy on the other. Then everything seemed to move in slow-motion. Ford braced his palm flat on the door beside Dana’s head, mimicking what he’d done earlier, preventing him from leaving. While some might find the action a bit barbaric, Dana’s cock was getting harder and harder. He didn’t move, careful to let Ford go at his own pace. Oh so slowly, Ford brought his right hand up and gently caressed the bristles on Dana’s cheek. Dana just remembered to breathe before he passed out. Ford was touching him, and not in a hetero kind of way. It’s what he’d wanted for so long. Ford leaned in, carefully watching Dana’s eyes as he did. Before their lips could touch, Ford whispered gravely, “Stay still.”

Jesus Christ. Dana didn’t move, barely inhaled. There was no way he was about to ruin this.

Ford’s beard brushed his cheek and Dana realized he’d been right. It was soft to the touch, like Ford used conditioner on it. Dana felt his knees go weak but he locked them in place. Was Ford going to kiss him or was he going to just whisper in his ear and tease the hell out of him… what? All he felt was a deliciously solid, rock hard chest against his own and warm breaths behind his ear. But he followed orders and stayed still, didn’t dare move. He kept his fists clenched tightly at his sides to keep from pulling Ford even closer to him. When Ford was done inhaling him, he grazed Dana’s ear with his lips. Not a kiss… a caress. Dana felt Ford turn his face into the crook of his neck and he fought not to whimper like a love-sick girl.

“Get rid of her. Now,” Ford ordered, making Dana almost come in his pants.

THE SECRETS IN MY SCOWL

The Book

The Secrets In My Scowl by A. E. Via
Genre: M/M Gay Contemporary
Standalone

About The Secrets In My Scowl:
Sparks ignite and tempers flare when a sexy, optimistic wedding planner moves his business in across the hall from a jilted, divorce lawyer’s practice.

“Look smart ass. This is the last time I’m going to remind you about breaking sections of the lease. If there’s a next time, I won’t stop until you and your frilly, white wedding shit is thrown out of here. Do you got it?!”
Wylde looked in Jacob’s pained eyes and answered in his deep voice. “Yeah, counselor. I got it.”

From high school, up until he became a successful attorney Jacob Snowden was convinced that love had it out for him. “Everyone left,” were the words he lived by. His mother, his high school sweetheart, his father, and his fiancé, all left Jacob just when he felt it was safe to let down his guard. Not any longer. Jacob was a determined man, set at keeping people at a distance. If his six foot one, military-made body didn’t scare people off, his permanent scowl surely did. At almost forty, Jacob’s social life was non-existent, but he told himself his work fulfilled him. He helped people get out of their loveless marriages. Jacob Snowden was one of the best divorce lawyers on the east coast and was damn proud of it. So, imagine his disdain when a wedding planner moves into the suite directly adjacent to his… an insanely masculine, male wedding planner.

Wylde Sterling had made quite a name for himself in his hometown of Roanoke, Virginia, working for a wedding planner that catered to the elite. He was known for his charm and impeccable taste. Yep, he was incredible at giving couples the wedding of their dreams. But he wanted nothing more than to plan his own. After striking out in love more times than he cared to admit, Wylde decided to start his own business in a new city, hoping Richmond would give him a fresh start. Things started out wonderfully – until he started to piss off the angry divorce attorney next door.

Wylde could see past Jacob’s mean scowl, knowing there was a reason for it. It was the man’s defense mechanism, his means of keeping people away. Everything in Wylde told him to stay away, but he believed Jacob just needed to meet a man who had been hurt as badly as he had.

This story ends in an HEA and does not end on a cliffhanger.

Excerpt:
He hadn’t realized how late it was until his receptionist asked if he needed anything else before she and his paralegal left.

“No.”

“I have a Mr. Sterling here, requesting to see you.”

Who? Jacob didn’t like drop-ins and he was sure he didn’t have any appointments this late. “Send him in.”

Jacob was completely unprepared for Wylde to come through his door and flood his space with that goddamn scent, but he walked in with a swagger only he could pull off. Damnit. Jacob was glad he was sitting behind his desk because, for whatever reason, his cock loved that scent. He’d must’ve been staring at Wylde too hard last time to remember his last name.

“Good evening, counselor. I hope I’m not disturbing you,” Wylde said in his deep timbre.

Ugh, god. The way the man said counselor made Jacob’s balls draw up. He just refrained from closing his eyes and blew out a calming breath. He closed the large Code of Virginia law book on his desk before asking, “How can I help you, Mr. Sterling?”

“Why don’t we try a first name basis, neighbor.” Wylde kept progressing toward Jacob and smoothly eased his tight body in one of the chairs in front of his desk and brought his black suede boot up and propped it on the opposite knee. Jacob inhaled again, immediately wishing he hadn’t. From across the office he could barely see the gold hoop in Wylde’s bottom lip, but up closer, the dim lights made it shine beautifully, as well as the tiny gold barbell in his brow. He smiled, showing off pretty, white teeth. “I just wanted to come over and apologize about the discarded boxes in the hall. I didn’t mean to disrespect the building and I certainly didn’t mean to upset you.”

“I wasn’t upset.” Jacob’s voice was raspy, just shy of husky, and he was sure the wedding planner picked up on it.

Jacob watched him cock his head to the side, his smooth forehead wrinkling. “Wow, if that’s you not upset, then I certainly don’t want to see you when you really are.”

Jacob didn’t think that needed a response, and since he felt a little tongue-tied at the moment, he just maintained eye contact. Light brown eyes stared back at him, and Jacob wasn’t sure if he saw a subtle wink or if it was an eye tick. What bothered Jacob the most was he couldn’t get a good read on the man. He had no clue if he was gay, straight, or bi, because he didn’t have a look that screamed his sexuality. Jacob hated to admit it, but he was enraptured by the wedding planner’s look. His was a style all his own. He had on camel-colored slacks with a matching V-neck sweater; however, it was the black suede dress coat and the suede boots that made him look sexy as fuck. He was caught staring again and the man had sat there and let him. Jacob knew he was busted because there was that smirk again. The one that meant, “Yep, I caught you staring and I bet your dick is at least half-hard.”

His neighbor buttoned his jacket when he stood. “Well, I’ve used up enough of your time. I’m sure you’re a very busy man. You have a good evening.”

Jacob needed to say something, for heaven’s sake. “You as well, Mr. Sterling.”

The man’s back stiffened as he opened the door. He turned, looking Jacob dead in his eyes. “You can call me, Wylde. I don’t care much for formalities. I hope that’s alright with you, Mr. Snowden, or may I call you…?”

It had to be at least five long seconds while Wylde stood there in his door waiting for him to respond.

In a voice that came out rough and too damn soft, he finished Wylde’s sentence, “Jacob.”

Wylde’s lips curled up into a devastatingly seductive smile and he responded in an equally rough and deep tone, “Goodnight, Jacob.” And Wylde gently closed his door.

Jacob had fallen for it. Fallen for the trap that Wylde set with those piercing eyes and sexy charm. Jacob felt like a fool for taking the bait, and Wylde reeled him right in. This time he was positive there was a wink at the end, and Jacob was most definitely fucked.

ORPHAN DANI #BookTour

The Book

Orphan Dani by Simon Driscoll
Book 1 in The Dragons’ Bane Chronicles series
Genre: Tween Fantasy Adventure

About Orphan Dani:
Dani is a young orphan girl, living on the streets of a medium-sized border town. Her only friend in the world is a dragon. At fourteen years of age, she should be starting her apprenticeship, but all her schooling has come from a dragon. The same day he promises she can some day become a dragon herself, a Mage finally comes looking for her. But is he there to help her, or control her?

Excerpt:
Smooth stones shifted beneath my feet as I limped toward the dragon’s cave. Anger buzzed in my head with no outlet. Two miles of walking on a sprained ankle hadn’t helped my mood, or the injury. In addition to the ankle, which continued to complain with every step, my left eye felt swollen from a recent blow. The blow itself didn’t bother me so much. Instead, I was concerned by why she hit me and how I got away.

Two miles south lay Barrington, a village sandwiched between the kingdom of Puji and the mountains of Goldoon. Almost five thousand people lived in the village, including the families who had taken me in. Every winter for the past six years one family or another had taken me in as a housekeeper or cook, and shared what little food they had with me; rarely enough to truly satisfy me, or them. Eventually they would start to resent having me there. Thus every year, around the start of spring, I would find some reason to leave.

This year, the reason had reached out and grabbed me by the throat, literally. There was no real love for me there, and hadn’t been since my nanny died almost six years ago. Why should they care about a little orphan girl?

The cave before me wasn’t the adventure others might see. I wasn’t here in a vain attempt to gain treasure or impress someone with my bravery. No one else in the village knew there was a dragon nearby. For me, this was my one escape from the cruelty of the world. The only place left where someone showed me kindness instead of hatred and violence.

The last few feet were the trickiest of all and my injured ankle gave out. I scraped my hand on the cliff in a failed attempt to stop my fall.

“Cortiban’s bones!” The curse escaped my lips. Frustration boiled over and I had to close my eyes to contain the anger. Pulling myself up by grabbing the face of the cliff before me, I put all my anger to the task of overcoming the pain. I kept my eyes shut as I limped through the protective magic hiding the mouth of the cave. If someone watched as I entered, they would see me walk through solid rock. A protective spell hid everything inside. Now the magic hid me as well.
