FIREBOLT by Adrienne Woods BookTour & Giveaway

Character Interview with Elena Watkins

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting another character, a beautiful girl named Elena. This is what she had to say.

Me: Elena, welcome, tell us a bit about yourself.

EW: (She looks at the carpet, a bit nervous.) What can I say, I’m 16, have moved around more times in my life that I can count on my fingers and toes, and as much as dragons frighten me, I sort of dig them.

(We both give nervous laughs.)
Me: I know exactly what you mean. How did you land in the world with all its dragons and riders? EW: (Her eyes start to tear up, but she sniffs, and wipes a strand of blonde hair from her face.)My dad used to tell me stories about them when I was little. For some reason I can’t remember all the details, but I do remember that it was a special world hidden from the human realm where dragons and magic are real, like you are in front of me. We used to run away every three months. I never knew from what until that night. (She looks at the carpet) It wasn’t an easy life, and as much as I hated every single time we fled, I would gladly do it again if it meant having my dad back.

(My throat tightens up.) Me: You mean that your dad is no longer with us anymore?
EW: (She shakes her head.) He died the night five dragons attacked us on Interstate 40.

(I fell emotional with her, even though I never met her father.) Me: Is that how you ended up in Paegeia?
EW: (She nods). I didn’t know the ins and outs of how I got to the infirmary in Dragonia Academy, only that a guy, or should I say a dragon, named Matt rescued me and took me to Paegeia because of my dark mark.

Me: So you have the mark of the riders too?
EW. Yeah, it’s not so great knowing that soon you’ll have to fight a dragon that is twenty times your size, but how can I share my fear with my two best friends? One is part of a dent, something that is way out of this world. I mean her dragon, George, used to hate her, but after she claimed him, he started to hang on to every word that crossed her lips as if it was the last thing she would ever say. The dent thing is still a bit confusing, but they say it’s rare, and a bond like that can never be broken. My other friend, Sammy, is a Fire – Tail. A dragon that can incinerate your butt on the spot. I don’t think she would do it though.

(I give her a small smile.) Me: So you don’t want to be a dragon rider?
EW: Would you like to claim something that can breathe fire, or acid. Not to mention flying on one. I did it once, not so cool. I thought I was going to die.

Me: You flew on a dragon?
EW: Yes, it was a dumb thing to do, and I will never do it again. I will die if my friends find out that I’m afraid of heights.

(I give a small laugh.) Me: I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to laugh.
(She laughs too.) EW: You understand now why I don’t want to be a Dragonian. (She sighs.) I’ve got no choice though. My mark is very dark. They’ve say they never seen one this dark, although plenty of the board members of Dragonia Academy think I don’t belong inside their school because of what my father was; a dragon. I’m the first offspring of a dragon that’s been born with the dragon rider’s mark.

(My face grows in terror.) Me: Your father was a dragon? ( I look at my charts. They should’ve told me that she was a dragon.) Are you a dragon?

EW: (She giggles) No, although my father’s one, a human and dragon offspring doesn’t have a dragon form. I’m human. As far as my father being a dragon, I guess I should’ve seen that one, but I never did. He was really good hiding it. He was one of the Metallic Dragons, the good type, and they say that the Metallics can go years without their dragon form. So I guess that’s what Dad did.

Me: Okay, let’s move over to the lighter side. Do you have a special someone?
EW: (She gives me that smile, the one you give whenever you think about your special someone.) Yes, but he’s royalty and I’m just a commoner. I’m sure they used to hang people like me in the old days.

Me: Is his name Lucian?
EW: Have you met him? (She seems to be a totally different person. Her face lights up and her smile would go all the way around her head, if it wasn’t for her ears.)

Me: I had the pleasure. He is a true gentleman.
EW: He is.

Well, Elena. I guess that was it. I would love to chat more with you and how you feel about everything but our time is up. So I guess I just have to find out more about you in Firebolt. Thank you so much for joining me today and I wish you all the luck with riding on dragons.

EW: Me riding on dragons that will never happen again, but thanks for having me here. It was nice talking to someone normal.

We both laugh and she gets up, gives me a wave as she exits and vanishes.

About Adrienne:
I was born and raised in South Africa, where I still live with my husband, and two beautiful little girls. I always knew that I was going to be a writer but it only started to happen about four years ago, now I can’t stop writing.

In my free time, If I get any because Moms don’t really have free time, I love to spend time with friends, if it’s a girls night out, or just a movie, I’m a very chilled person.

My writing career is starting with Firebolt, book one with the Dragonian Series, there will be four books in total and two to three books that is about the stories taking place inside The Dragonian Series.

I do write in different Genres, I have a woman’s fiction called the Pregnancy Diaries, but it would be published under another name. And then I have a paranormal series, called the Watercress series. There are about ten novels in that one.

So, plenty of novels to come out, so little time.

I hope you are going to embrace the Dragonian Series as much as I loved writing them.

Interview with Xandir

We would like to welcome Xandir to Cherry Mischievous and thank him for taking the time in his busy schedule to answer some questions from a nosey fan... Enjoy the conversation folks!
Cherry: We have here today a guest that wasn’t so easy to get ahold of. He isn’t listed in the yellow pages, you can’t read his blog, and the guy never tweets. Xandir is a destroying angel by day, and by night…well, still a destroying angel. In fact, he’s got the gig until the End of the World. At least there’s job security, right?

Xandir: You’re awfully gutsy making fun of some with a sword in each hand. I’ll have you know, I once toasted two cities and turned a lady into a pillar of salt all before lunchtime. Don’t test me.

Cherry: Sorry, it’s just, I’ve never interviewed an angel before. From all the paintings and stained glass windows I’ve seen, you all seemed to be an easy-going lot. I see I’ve been misled.

Xandir: Yeah, well, you wouldn’t be the first. I know we don’t exactly offer to pose for portraits, but greeting card companies really just need to try harder.

Cherry: Perhaps you would like to dispel some other common misconceptions for us, Xandir.

Xandir: Sure, where do I start? I could probably write a whole book about it.

Cherry: What about music in heaven? Is harp strumming compulsory?

Xandir: Do you think I’d be caught dead with something as frilly as a harp? No, angels play all sorts of things, though I think a few instruments have been banned. The accordion, the bagpipes, and the kazoo have been relegated to Hell.

Cherry: Kazoo-wielding demons. Now there’s one more reason to stay on the straight and narrow. I can’t help but notice that your wings don’t look quite like I had imagined. They look more like the surface of a bubble. Do all angels have them?

Xandir: Most do. But remember the wings are more substantial than they look, and we’re not birds. Not even little cherubs for all their sickly-sweetness.

Cherry: That reminds me, there seem to be a lot of different types of angels. How does that work?

Xandir: The little bite-sized ones are the cherubim. They are the younger ones in training, usually apprentices to more senior angels. The suck-ups get made Seraphim, who take great pride in supervising the rest of us. I’ve got a High Seraph who acts as my glorified baby sitter. It’s his job to make sure I don’t just destroy stuff for fun. Or boredom. I guess there are some Archangels even above them, but who cares about them?

Cherry: Interesting. Now, I’ve got to ask, is there really a cloud nine? What makes it so great?

Xandir: Yeah, it exists, but it’s not really that much better than clouds one through eight. I think there’s a pretty good ambrosia stand there, but, you know, it’s been a while.

Cherry: So, I know you’ve probably got to get on to destroying some more things, but I’ve got to know. What’s with halos? You don’t seem to have one.

Xandir: You’re pretty observant for a mortal. The deal is, not all angels have them. What you all see as a halo is actually a crown given to big wig angels. Like most angelic clothing, the crowns glow and create that ‘halo’ effect around the angel’s face. What I’d do to try on one of the Archangel’s crowns. It would make a Rolex look like a Cracker Jack toy.

Cherry: Where are you going? I have some other questions I’d like to ask.

Xandir: Too bad. Duty calls. Oh, and I’d stay off the interstate today if I were you. I’m headed there now, and it might not be pretty.

Cherry: Thanks for the tip. I’ll…and he’s gone. You heard him folks, straight from the angel’s mouth: stay off the interstate, and, well, don’t take up the kazoo.
Xandir has been exiled to earth until the end of time. But when his cherub trainee disappears, Xandir makes a deal with rogue angels and giants that could restore life to the mortal woman he loves and end his assignment as a destroying angel in exchange for helping them bring about the end of the world and all of mankind.

The Last Archangel by Michael Young

About The Last Archangel:
Doomed to serve as a destroying angel until the end of the world, the fallen angel Xandir sometimes wonders what is taking so long. In thousands of years, he has only cared about one person and he was forced to destroy her along with her entire city in the line of duty.

Then a secret brotherhood approaches him and claims that together they can end the world and reunite him with his lost love. To do so, he must enter an ancient sunken city and emerge with a seed from the noxious tree at its center. With the seed’s poison they could construct weapons to bring down the curtain on Earth’s final act. Xandir’s journey takes him around the world, both above and beneath, sending him rushing in where most angels fear to tread.

Interview With Daniel Kalbi + Giveaway

I would like to welcome the wonderful Daniel Kalbi who took the time off his busy schedule to be with us today....

So, first of all... please tell us a little more about yourself.
My name is Daniel Kalbi, though if I had my choice I wouldn't use that last name at all. It reminds me of my father and all the horrible things I inherited from him. If I could choose any last name, it would Divine. I've always wanted to be part of the Divine family with Grace and Jude. I know they're not as perfect as they pretend to be--I mean, any family that goody goody would just be kind of creepy--and I know they have a lot their own secrets and issues, but I know they really do care about each other.

I love art, almost as much as I love Grace, and I hope to become an industrial designer someday. I am fascinated by designing and creating new things that will change the way people live their lives. It's a lot of work, and an extremely difficult program to get into, but I really want to find a way to use my natural talents to make people's lives better. Oh yeah, and I kind of have supernatural talents too--Grace calls them superpowers--but they come at the cost of having a demon inside of my head all the time. . . and that part I'd rather live without.

Are you into reading books? If so, what is your reading list? Who are some of your favorite authors?
I'm really into reading. I was out of school for the last three years, but I like to think I'm a little bit self taught from all the reading I do. (Plus lessons from my mentor, Gabriel.) I like all kinds of books from biographies, history, religious texts, modernist fiction and poetry, and stuff that's just for fun. HOWL by Allen Ginsberg, and any poetry from Lawrence Ferlinghetti are some of my favorites. There's a certain remorse in Tennessee Williams work that really gets to me. For fun, I like to read stuff like LOST BOYS by Orson Scott Card and, of course, the HUNGER GAMES is just plain awesome.

What is your strangest habit?
I love music. Always wished I played the drums, but my parents wouldn't let me take lessons. I have a habit of tapping out the drumbeat with my fingers on my leg to whatever song is stuck in my head.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be? What kind of power would you choose?
I kind of already have a lot of superpowers. I don't really feel like I deserve any of the ones I currently have so I don't know if I should be asking for any more . . . but if I could choose another one, I'd say teleportation. I'd love to be able to grab Grace and pop on over to the Florence for an afternoon at a few art museums, or maybe a quick trip to China for some really good dumplings.

If, you were to fall in love, who would be your ideal mate?
That's easy: Grace. She's smart, stubborn as hell, really talented at art, has this overriding idea that everything in life should be fair--and will fight to set things right if she thinks it needs to happen. And she just genuinely cares about people. If there's anyone in this world who could possibly love me, I think it would be Grace. Oh, and she's gorgeous. But in a real sort of way, not a fake, over-plucked, over-styled, Hollywood sort of way.

What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
Coming back to Rose Crest. I ran away because I was afraid--but coming back, was the hardest, scariest thing I've definitely ever done. Especially knowing what could happen now that I'm back.

If you suddenly come to have $1M, what would you do?
I'd buy Bree her dream house and a little 3 Series BMW and a Mustang--because I think she really deserves it. I mean, she created me after all. :)

It has been a true pleasure having you here, Daniel! And thank you for dropping by and being with us today!!

And dear readers, that was Daniel, from The Dark Divine series by Bree Despain...

About The Dark Divine:
A prodigal son

A dangerous love

A deadly secret . . .

I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”
Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

Interview With the Earl of Granville & Giveaway

Today is the first stop for the Sex & Subterfuge virtual book tour and we have with us the scrumptious Earl of Granville!

  • First of all... please tell us a little more about yourself.
I am Lucien Harrington, Earl Granville, Viscount Harrington. You, my dear, (lifts hand to kiss the back of it) may call me Lucien. My parents have recently been murdered, and I’m searching for their killers, which is why I currently reside on my steamship, sailing from the upper regions of Canada, down the coast of the United States. My next stop is Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, I had to leave my beloved sister, Isadore, in England. She couldn’t travel with me after our parents’ murder, and while she’s with close friends, I don’t want her alone. However, I do have ways to keep in touch with her.

  • Are you into reading books? If so, what is your reading list?
I tend not to have a lot of time to read, I’m very busy with my shipping business and currently with searching the entirety of North America for the mysterious Blackthorne line. Being a strong magicker myself, I also have to keep a low profile, there are a lot of people out there who will turn me in for the few pounds they’ll receive from the Witch Hunters. Still, I do enjoy Charles Darwin, an interesting fellow him, with interesting ideas, as well as Mr. Tolstoy’s War and Peace, Charles Dickens, Alexandre Dumas.

Between searching for magickers, smuggling them from the Witch Hunters, campaigning for more magicker freedom, keeping my own Druidic heritage secret, and now searching for the missing master line, the Blackthornes, my life is full. Pity, I enjoy a good drama.

  • If you could have one superpower, what would it be? What kind of power would you choose?
My dear, I already have superpowers, as you call them. I control the water. I love the sea, always have, and it listens to my every command. Hurricanes and typhoons? I can sail straight through them with no problems. I can create storms, too, to lash out at any enemy ship.

I wouldn’t want to be gouache, however, and am very discreet with my powers.

  • What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
Looking into my sister, Isadore’s, face when our parents were murdered and telling her I wouldn’t be there for her. That I was going to the Americas in a fruitless attempt to find a master magicker line that hasn’t been heard of in over 150 years.

However, the scariest sight I’ve ever seen is when I angered Isadore and her dearest friend, Raven. It was a day I’ll not soon forget and the day I learned that even the bravest of men can run for their lives. I was in my early teens, home from Eton. I have absolutely no idea what I did, but the two of them together, magicks all but sparking out of their fingertips, presented a sight I’ll not soon forget.

  • :) If a powerful entity grants you one wish, what would your wish be?
To remove Sir John Corwin, Head Witch Hunter, from this earth. Not kill him, if it was that simple I’d do it today. No, I fear he’ll become a martyr for his cause if murdered, but I want him disgraced, embarrassed, plucked from this world as if he never existed.

However, my utterly selfish wish would be to speak with my parents once more, to hear my father’s boisterous laugh, to feel my mother’s energetic presence. And to apologize for not preventing their deaths. They died right in front of me at an innocuous picnic on our estate, and I was helpless to do anything to prevent it.

We are sorry to hear of your parent's death, Lucien! But we hope that you would be successful in your quest...

Sex & Subterfuge by Isabel Roman
Book 2 of the Dark Desires of the Druids series

About Sex & Subterfuge:
A master magicker, Morgana Blackthorne has a tenuous hold on her following. When a strange Englishman arrives on her doorstep with news of other druidic magickers, and magicker problems, she’s intrigued but suspicious. There hasn’t been contact between the American and European druids in over a hundred years. Plus she has her own worries and doesn’t need the handsome earl adding to them.

Lucien, Earl of Granville, left England to seek out the Blackthorne Druid line and discover what they’ve been up to since contact was lost. Once he and Morgana meet, their mutual attraction distracts him from his puropse. Embroiled in her problems, he finds himself more concerned with her welfare than is practical for a passing affair.

When I invited you into my bed, it never occurred to me I wouldn’t want you to leave.

There are darker forces at work and the hunger of a weak magicker desperate for power. Will Lucien convince Morgana of his true feelings before things spiral out of control? Or will the surrounding subterfuge tear them apart?

MY AVENGING ANGEL + $15 AmazonGC Giveaway

At today's blog tour stop, we have the pleasure of having the wonderful company of Michael the Archangel!!!

And I would like to apologize in advance if my questions sounded a bit generic! When I prepared the interview questions I did not know that Michael would descend upon us :), but Michael has cool answers:

• First of all... please tell us a little more about yourself.
    • I think enough has been written about me that most people know who the hell I am. I am the Archangel Michael and if Lucifer ever has the nerve to come crawling out of that cesspool known as Hell, I’m going to take out that back-stabbing son of a bitch.
• Are you into reading books? If so, what is your reading list?
    • Who has the time to read? I leave that kind of crap to my mate, Tory. Though I have to admit, I do enjoy the parts where the bad guys die. Especially when it’s a demon getting sliced and diced. It warms my soul.
• If you could have one superpower, what would it be? What kind of power would you choose?
    • Sweetheart, I was the first superhero. Though that laser thing Superman does with his eyes is pretty damn cool. I’d love to be able to do that.
• What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
    • Falling in love. Christ, I sound like a pussy but there you go. I never thought anyone could bring me to my knees, especially one tiny woman, but Tory owns my soul.
• If you suddenly come to have $1M, what would you do?
    • If only money could solve my problems, I’d hire dozens of new warriors and wipe the demons from the face of the Earth. Unfortunately, the angel populace is shrinking, not growing. And humans are far too fragile; they have a tendency to die.
Thank you so much for being with us today Michael!!!!

Now here is the scoop about My Avenging Angel:
To save her life, he must break a covenant—and lose his heart.

An Angels and Demons story.

It’s Victoria Bloom’s twenty-fifth birthday. But is she out celebrating? Oh, no. She’s in a stuffy old attic with the Three Stooges—a.k.a. her so-called spirit guides. There’s a demon who wants her dead, the same one that killed her mother two decades ago. No worries, say the Stooges. All she has to do is summon an angel. What could go wrong?

Well, plenty when you summon the wrong angel. The next thing Tory knows, she’s got one very bad-ass, pissed-off and sexy Archangel on her hands.

Michael, mighty warrior, leader of an elite team of demon killers, is shaking in his heavenly combat boots. Not because he finds all humans distasteful. But because he’d rather face Lucifer himself than the woman his soul has just recognized as his mate. Binding himself to a mortal, one who will eventually die, is the one path he’s sworn never to follow.

It’s too late now; his fate is sealed. With one touch, she becomes as necessary to him as the air he breathes. He will move heaven and earth to protect her—but against a demon as powerful as Asmodeus, heaven and earth may not be enough…

RYU INTERVIEW & CONTEST

Let me introduce Ryu, he is a "tall dark and handsome" character in the world of Tempest Rising, book one of the selkie series, by Nicole Peeler. Please help me welcome Ryu to Cherry Mischievous!!!!

First of all... please tell us a little more about yourself.
My name is Ryu, pronounced like kanga-roo. It's a family name. And I like lots of things . . . nice cars, nice clothes, nice women . . . *winks at Cherry*

*Cherry blushes* Right.... now..... *clears throat* Are you into reading books? If so, what is your reading list?
I do read, and quite a bit. My favorite books are Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, Machiavelli's The Prince, and Lady Murasaki's The Tale of Genji. *arches an eyebrow at Cherry*

Wow, that sounds impressive, even though I have no clue as to what those books are. Still sound impressive. So, who are some of your favourite authors?
I like to read those great men of history who know how to treat a lady . . .*sips from his Tom Collins . . . at Cherry*

Whew *Cherry fans self*, is it hot in here or what? Anyway, please tell us, what is your strangest habit?
I stay up late at night thinking of how best to pleasure women . . . it's a little ridiculous. I mean, how many orgasms can you give a single female? Anything more than five and they start to dehydrate. *sucks on then eats the cherry from his Tom Collins*

Where was I? Ah, yes... if you could have one superpower, what would it be? What kind of power would you choose?
I'd vibrate. *ties up the cherry stem with his tongue and shows it to Cherry*

Vibb-rate, right.. *Cherry stutters* If, if, you were to fall in love who would be your ideal mate?
Um . . . there is somebody. But I'm not sure she feels the same . . . Next question.

What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?
Waxing. It gets rather . . . involved. When you're a man. Next!

If you suddenly come to have $1M, what would you do?
Hmm . . . I've always wanted one of those circular beds that spin. And to help feed the children, of course. Thanks for your interest, my dear. *kisses Cherry's palm*

Thank you for being with us today, Ryu! It has been an absolute pleasure!!

*Ryu bows with that sinful smile of his and exits the studio*
Above picture of Ryu is only a fan's rendition (or something like that) and is taken from the internet.

My very first foray into the interviewing territory and I get all flustered!! *groan*

About Tempest Rising:

In the tiny village of Rockabill, Maine, Jane True—26-year-old bookstore clerk and secret night swimmer—has no idea that her absent mother’s legacy is entry into a world populated by the origins of human myths and legends. It is a world where nothing can be taken for granted: vampires are not quite what we think; dogs sometimes surprise us; and whatever you do, never—ever—rub the genie’s lamp. For Jane, everything kicks off when she comes across a murder victim during her nightly clandestine swim in the freezing winter ocean. This grisly discovery leads to the revelation of why she has such freakish abilities in the water: her mother was a Selkie and Jane is only half human. With this knowledge, Jane soon finds herself mingling with supernatural creatures alternately terrifying, beautiful, and deadly—all adjectives that quite handily describe her new friend Ryu. When Ryu is sent to Rockabill to investigate the murder, he and Jane fall hard for each other even as they plummet into a world of intrigue threatening to engulf both supernatural and human societies. For someone is killing half-humans like Jane. The question is, are the murders the work of one rogue individual or part of a greater plot to purge the world of Halflings.
