Review: CLICK CLACK THE RATTLEBAG

Click Clack The Rattlebag by Neil Gaiman
Read by Neil Gaiman
Genre: middlegrade short story freebie for charity
Format: audiobook

About Click Clack The Rattlebag:
"Click-Clack the Rattlebag" is your Halloween treat from Neil Gaiman and Audible, FREE through October 31. It's not available anywhere else, and for a limited time, each download from Audible benefits educational charities at BookTrust.org.

A few words from Neil: "Why tell ghost stories? Why read them or listen to them? Why take such pleasure in tales that have no purpose but, comfortably, to scare?

"I don't know. Not really. It goes way back. We have ghost stories from ancient Egypt, after all, ghost stories in the Bible, classical ghost stories from Rome (along with werewolves, cases of demonic possession, and of course, over and over, witches). We have been telling each other tales of otherness, of life beyond the grave, for a long time; stories that prickle the flesh and make the shadows deeper and, most important, remind us that we live, and that there is something special, something unique and remarkable, about the state of being alive. Happy Halloween!"

"'What kind of story would you like me to tell you?' 'Well,' he said, thoughtfully, 'I don't think it should be too scary, because then when I go up to bed, I will just be thinking about monsters the whole time. But if it isn't just a little bit scary, then I won't be interested. And you make up scary stories, don't you?'"

So begins this subtle, witty, deceptive little tale from master storyteller Neil Gaiman. Lock the doors, turn off the lights, and enjoy!

My Thoughts:
First I would like to thank Tales Of Whimsy for giving me the heads-up about this freebie short story for charity! Next I would also like to thank Neil Gaiman for giving away his talent for free for a good cause! And for that alone I would have listened and downloaded this audiobook. And for a freebie it wasn't bad at all! However the biggest merit of this book is the fact that it is for charity! The next bestest thing about it is Neil Gaiman's narration. Heck! If he ever wants to moonlight as a narrator I think he would be raking in the money. He's good! And so I enjoyed listening to this little audiobook and would recommend to everybody to download it too!

HERSHEY'S BETTER BASKET BLOG HOP

Hershey’s Better Basket Blog Hop

I pinched this Hershey's Better Basket Blog Hop from Wendy at Wendy's Minding Spot since she offered and I wanted to do my little bit for the little tots over at CMN... it doesn't cost me anything to give Hershey a free advertising and hopefully it gives those kids that just little bit of an edge at life...

This is what it is...
Hershey has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network for over 20 years. CMN is a non-profit alliance of children’s hospitals dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care, life-saving research and preventative education across North America.

This Easter season, Hershey is celebrating it’s new Easter products sold exclusively at Walmart and their legacy of making a difference and Hershey’s will donate $7,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Better Basket Blog Hop started as a charity blog meme, bloggers were able to raise $10 by writing a blog post of donating a virtual Easter Basket. The Hershey Company promised to donate $10 per each post written for the Children’s Miracle Network, up to $5,000. Within the first week, over 200 bloggers participated, and soon it was 400 bloggers, and The Hershey Company was so impressed by the kindness and caring of the hundreds of bloggers participating that they decided to donate $7,000 in honor of all the caring bloggers who are part of spreading the word of paying it forward this Easter season.

How can you join? It’s simple:
  • Participate to Hershey’s Better Basket Blog Hop of giving away virtual Easter Baskets by creating a blog post with specific rules described here.
  • Hershey Company will donate $7,000 for CMN
  • You can give as many virtual Easter baskets as you want.
  • The Hershey’s Better Basket Blog Hop will officially begin at 12 AM EST on March 18th and end at 12 PM EST on April 4th, 2010. Blog posts submitted to us before or after that time period will not be counted for.
  • The blog post link has to be submitted to us for your participation to be counted.
  • In addition copy and paste the following text in your blog post:
HERSHEY’S BETTER BASKET BLOG HOP RULES
  • Copy and paste these rules to your blog post.
  • Create a blog post giving a virtual Easter Basket to another blogger – you can give as many Virtual Baskets as you want.
  • Link back to the person who gave you an Easter Basket.
  • Let each person you are giving a Virtual Easter Basket know you have given them a Basket.
  • Leave your link at BetterBasket.info/BlogHop comment section. You can also find the official rules of this #betterbasket blog hop, and more information about Better Basket with Hershey’s there.
  • This started as a meme of Hershey donating $10 per each blog participating to the Better Basket Blog Hop to Children’s Miracle Network up to $5,000 – but after so many bloggers participating, Hershey decided to donate a total of $7,000 honoring the kindness of blogger community.

So now I pass this Hershey Better Basket Blog Hop to:
