Genre: urban fantasy
Format: ebook & audio

About Wild Sign:
Mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Latham must discover what could make an entire community disappear — before it's too late — in this thrilling entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling Alpha and Omega series.

In the wilds of the Northern California mountains, all the inhabitants of a small town have gone missing. It's as if the people picked up and left everything they owned behind. But Charles and Anna soon find a deserted town is the least of the mysteries they face.

Death sings in the forest, and when it calls, Charles and Anna must answer. Something has awakened in the heart of the California mountains, something old and dangerous — and it has met werewolves before.

Wild Sign by Patricia Briggs audiobook UK
My Thoughts:
I was hoping that we will see Wellesley again... and we kinda did... if only through his art! I'm happy with that! However, I am still hoping to see more of him in subsequent books.

I still think that the US cover art is far more wonderful than the UK one. I always liked Dan Dos Santos' work! I wish UK would hire a good artist too! The UK covers are amazingly dull! Not to mention not apropos. Anna never carried a gun! The only gun mentioned here is the witch gun which is described more like a taser than a gun. The UK covers is a disservice to Patricia Briggs' stories!

As usual this author delivers a story with compelling story telling quality and a stunningly wonderful reading time! But then again, I am a devoted, old fan so my review of this author's work would always be biased.

Empirical Evaluation:
Story telling quality = 5
Character development = 5
Story itself = 5
Writing Style = 5
Ending = 5

Cover art = 5 (US)
Cover art = 3 (UK)

Witch's wolf

My Thoughts:
I am not a fan of historicals so this book got read mainly because: 1. I am a fan of this series already. 2. I wanted to know what happened after the rescue mission from the last book. And of course I'm glad I did because it is a fun little book to read.

The main story arc ended about three quarters into the book. Then it is just fillers after that. Good fillers mind, but nothing much to do with the main story. It does points to some interesting twists in the series, though. So still really good. The abundance of text errors still annoys me though!

At 170 pages, this is another short and sweet read!

WHISPERS OF THE DEAD

Whispers Of The Dead by Adaline Winters
Book 1 in the Cora Roberts series
Narrated by Nicol Zanzarella
Genre: urban fantasy
Format: ebook & audiobookAudiobook

White Castle is a small town with big secrets. It’s the epicentre of the paranormal community. Expect the wolves to be large and the town’s blood supply to be short.

I’m the local bed and breakfast owner who offers extras such as supernatural autopsies and burials, earning me the title of The Undertaker. A string of murders brings the lord of the shifters and the vampire prince to my door. Together we take on the evil lurking in the shadows. But as we draw closer to the truth, they begin to unpick my secrets, which I must protect with my life. Pity they have the best senses in town.

My name is Cora Roberts, elemental badass with a secret that will rock the world.

My Thoughts:
Reading this book is very strongly reminiscent of the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. However, dark and dangerous Jim is now Dave and Dr. Dolittle is now Norbert. Kate aka Dina aka Cora now have an inn. Gertrude Hunt is now Summer Grove House. Except this time Summer Grove House is not sentient anymore, just warded. The BDH (book-devouring horde) will get what I'm saying here. As if that is not enough, Stefan in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is now Sebastian. Same vampire bond. Slightly different characteristics of the bond. So, similarities. Plenty of them. So...?? The more the merrier!! Let them all come!! Tides us over until the next Kate Daniels and/or Mercy Thompson series book(s) comes out! Staves off the post-good-book-read depression!

I like the fact that the plot has a slight twist to it. Urban fantasies are not known for plot twists!

This is my first Nicol Zanzarella audiobook and I am fast becoming a fan!

Meet The Author

About Adaline Winters:
Adaline loves to write strong sassy heroines who bring alpha males to their knees. She enjoys sprinkling breadcrumbs that lead to the twists and turns in a book. She has been know to leave a reader on a cliff hanger or two.

She lives with her husband, daughter and bonkers dog, in the not so sunny but scenic, Lake District, England.

When she’s not writing or listening to the characters running rampant in her head, you can find her failing to grow tomatoes or reading anything romance - particularly books with strong heroines who drive alpha males insane.
