EASTERCON + GIVEAWAY

Hiya peeps! Just got back from eastercon and got a few goodies!! Righty yo! It was marvellous seeing some of my favourite authors! And a few embarassing moments :( , christ I couldn't believe the social faux pas I committed there!! I'm thinking, I shouldn't go to these events ever again... good thing Stephen Deas is so understanding... so there I was an over eager fan qeueing up to get my books signed... then it was finally my turn!! I ask Mr. Deas to kindly sign my copy of The Adamantine Palace, so he opens the book up to the title page, and guess what? It was already signed! I bought a book which he already signed!! I should have checked whether the copy I bought was a signed copy or not! Oh. My. God. !!! So I said sorry and beat a quick and hasty retreat... I so need to go home!! Mr. Deas was ever so nice about it, he just smiled and said something pacifying which I couldn't remember anymore. In my embarassment I forgot to get my copy of The King Of The Crags signed!! Can somebody please shoot me!

I did get my copy of Excession signed by Ian Banks... **squeeee**... and along with a whole boatload of books which I got signed by the authors! Yay!!!

Now it's time to share... the talented Mr. Joe Abercrombie signed for me the whole First Law trilogy! One lucky blog reader is going to take home the signed copy of The Blade Itself* (Book 1 of the First Law trilogy) for free!! All you have to do is say so in your comment that you want it. Easy peasy! But please leave a way for me to contact you in case you win or come back on May 17. This giveaway will run until May 16 and winner to be announced on May 17. Open worldwide. Eastercon is exhausting!

*Please note that the picture of The Blade Itself above may not be the same cover that you are getting in the giveaway. Above pic is stock image.

HERSHEY'S BETTER BASKET BLOG HOP

Hershey’s Better Basket Blog Hop

I pinched this Hershey's Better Basket Blog Hop from Wendy at Wendy's Minding Spot since she offered and I wanted to do my little bit for the little tots over at CMN... it doesn't cost me anything to give Hershey a free advertising and hopefully it gives those kids that just little bit of an edge at life...

This is what it is...
Hershey has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network for over 20 years. CMN is a non-profit alliance of children’s hospitals dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care, life-saving research and preventative education across North America.

This Easter season, Hershey is celebrating it’s new Easter products sold exclusively at Walmart and their legacy of making a difference and Hershey’s will donate $7,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Better Basket Blog Hop started as a charity blog meme, bloggers were able to raise $10 by writing a blog post of donating a virtual Easter Basket. The Hershey Company promised to donate $10 per each post written for the Children’s Miracle Network, up to $5,000. Within the first week, over 200 bloggers participated, and soon it was 400 bloggers, and The Hershey Company was so impressed by the kindness and caring of the hundreds of bloggers participating that they decided to donate $7,000 in honor of all the caring bloggers who are part of spreading the word of paying it forward this Easter season.

How can you join? It’s simple:
  • Participate to Hershey’s Better Basket Blog Hop of giving away virtual Easter Baskets by creating a blog post with specific rules described here.
  • Hershey Company will donate $7,000 for CMN
  • You can give as many virtual Easter baskets as you want.
  • The Hershey’s Better Basket Blog Hop will officially begin at 12 AM EST on March 18th and end at 12 PM EST on April 4th, 2010. Blog posts submitted to us before or after that time period will not be counted for.
  • The blog post link has to be submitted to us for your participation to be counted.
  • In addition copy and paste the following text in your blog post:
HERSHEY’S BETTER BASKET BLOG HOP RULES
  • Copy and paste these rules to your blog post.
  • Create a blog post giving a virtual Easter Basket to another blogger – you can give as many Virtual Baskets as you want.
  • Link back to the person who gave you an Easter Basket.
  • Let each person you are giving a Virtual Easter Basket know you have given them a Basket.
  • Leave your link at BetterBasket.info/BlogHop comment section. You can also find the official rules of this #betterbasket blog hop, and more information about Better Basket with Hershey’s there.
  • This started as a meme of Hershey donating $10 per each blog participating to the Better Basket Blog Hop to Children’s Miracle Network up to $5,000 – but after so many bloggers participating, Hershey decided to donate a total of $7,000 honoring the kindness of blogger community.

So now I pass this Hershey Better Basket Blog Hop to:
Carrie at Carrie's YA Bookshelf
Cindy at Princess Bookie

And to you, who cares enough to want to do your little bit to help the lives of kids better... Please help yourself to the Easter Basket...

WW28: HEIST SOCIETY

WW28
A chance to showcase your favourite!
  • First you grab our Wicked Wednesday pic.
  • Then you grab a book. Turn to page 28. Take the first sentence. And then you post it in your site with a link back to WW28.
  • Come back to Cherry Mischievous - WW28 and give us the url of your post in a comment so that other WW28 readers can find your WW28 offering.

WW28 book offering: Heist Society by Ally Carter
Page 28, 1st Sentence(-ish):
She zoomed in on two men who lingered on a bench at the corner of the square, and recognized the plain clothes, bad shoes, and haggard look of a surveillance team five days into a job.

About This Book:
When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her on a trip to the Louvre...to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria...to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own--scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately, leaving "the life" for a normal life proves harder than she'd expected.

Soon, Kat's friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring her back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has good reason: a powerful mobster has been robbed of his priceless art collection and wants to retrieve it. Only a master thief could have pulled this job, and Kat's father isn't just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat's dad needs her help.

For Kat there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it's a spectacularly impossible job? She's got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in history-or at least her family's (very crooked) history.
